VIRTUAL PARTICIPATION
GATHER.TOWN SOCIAL SPACE

UbiComp / ISWC 2020 social and networking activities are implemented in Gather.Town. Gather is a virtual space that enables attendees to interact more effectively online, combining video-calling with a 2D map, and letting attendees walk around and talk to the other people right next to them.

All attendees are invited to our interactive space in Gather.Town, and do not need any additional registration to participate.

To visit the space, go to https://ubicomp.town. If it asks you for a password, then go to https://gather.town/ and click on ‘Sign In’. Please make sure to use the same email you used when registering for the conference.

Step up into the question mark sign to learn interesting features available in each room.
Sit in a table or booth to hold a private group video/call with the other individuals seated in the rest of the table/booth. Others around you, but not sitting at the table won’t be able to hear you.
Step up into the podium or into the circle to broadcast a video/call to the entire room. This will only happen in special occasions, typically when directed by an SV or one of the chairs.
Step up into the map to rapidly jump to other rooms. This is our Gather town’s wormhole portal.
Step up into a square rug available in the Posters/Demos room or the Workshops/DC room to hold a private group video/call with the other individuals inside the square.
Step up into a keyboard to access the specified sessions on Whova. These workstations are available in the Main Auditorium.
Press ‘x’ on your keyboard to interact with any content when you are approaching a table, a rug, or a workstation. Gather.Town shows a small “Press x to interact” text on the bottom of your screen.
