Call for Videos
Videos provide an effective way to present your work to the Ubicomp community.
They offer a practical alternative to those for whom the logistics of transporting
demo equipment to Japan (to run on 100V AC) may prove difficult. Authors
who are submitting papers are also encouraged to consider submitting videos
as a way to illustrate their work. As with other submission categories,
video submissions should not have been previously presented in any other
conference programs.
The video screening is planned prior to the conference banquet on 13 Sept.
to give opportunity to authors to show their works in a public setting
to all Ubicomp attendees. The videos will also be playing continuously
in a dedicated space during the duration of the conference. They will be
published on a DVD and distributed to conference attendees. Copyright will
be retained by the authors. A panel of international reviewers will review
videos for their technical content, interest and relevance to the ubiquitous
computing community, communication effectiveness, and production quality.
Video submissions should be 4 to 8 minutes long. Videos of works in progress
are encouraged, but will be subject to a second review process after final
production.
Accepted formats for electronic submission are: QuickTime, MPEG1, MPEG2,
or AVI file with MPEG4 (.mov, .mpeg) files. Maximum file size is 100MB
for upload.
If the submission is accepted, the final presentation format will be Region-Free DVD in NTSC encoding.
In addition to submitting a video file, authors must also submit a short paper (maximum of 2 pages) in ACM SIGCHI conference publications format, including all figures and references, for each video submission. This should include the title, authors, affiliations and an abstract of no more than 150 words.
Abstracts of accepted videos will be published in the Conference Supplement that will be circulated to attendees at the conference; they will not be incorporated into the main UbiComp 2004 Conference Proceedings.
Video submissions may be uploaded using the online submission procedure. If you would like to submit, contact ubicomp2005_video@kddilabs.jp. Please do NOT send video files as email attachments under any circumstances!
