I’m taking my children to the conference center

In case you want to take your children with you to the conference venue (i.e., the Cancun Center), we have some information for you, as well as some amenities for you and your children that may help you feel comfortable.

Access to the Cancun center

After registering, you and your children will be asked to wear a wristband when arriving at the premises. These wristbands must always be worn when on the premises. It will be checked, especially when leaving the premises with a child. Also, your child will be provided with a workbook and crayons. This is free of charge

Should you have questions, you can also reach out to the Family Chairs: family-2023@ubicomp.org

Family room

There will be a Family Room at the venue. The Family Room will provide space for children and toddlers to play, toys, crayons, paper, coloring books, etc. The room will be equipped with a number of tables and chairs for children, special play rugs, and children will have space to play with their own electronic equipment. Baby sitting and childcare services, if booked, will be available in the Family Room. The main conference tracks, and the plenaries will be live-streamed in the Family Room, so that parents and caregivers don’t have to miss any part of our program.

Nursing room

A section of the Family Room, will be separated out and designated as a nursing room. This will be a quiet, comfortable space for parents or caregivers. This space can be used to pump or feed your baby. There will be a fridge and microwave oven to warm up food.

Family restroom

The closest restrooms to the Family Room, by the Contoy Room, will be used as a Family Restroom. For your convenience, changing stations will be in place in the Family restroom as well as every other restroom.

I’m taking my children to the Gala Dinner

Children are welcome at the Gala Diner and attendance is free.
There will be a children’s menu, and coloring books to entertain the little guests.

Please make sure to communicate us your needs by filling out our Family Requests Form.

A caregiver is accompanying me

If you travel with your children and are accompanied by a caregiver for your child(ren) (e.g. partner, grandparent, nanny, etc.), we know that there may be circumstances when the caretaker needs to access the conference venue (e.g. to bring the baby for nursing).

If this is the case for your family, please reach out to the Family Chairs: family-2023@ubicomp.org. Please explain your situation, and we’ll do our best to support you. We have a limited number of companion passes that we can give out for free to caretakers of children. These passes will allow access to the conference center’s common areas, but not to the conference sessions.

UbiComp / ISWC

Past Conferences

The ACM international joint conference on Pervasive and Ubiquitous Computing (UbiComp) is the result of a merger of the two most renowned conferences in the field: Pervasive and UbiComp. While it retains the name of the latter in recognition of the visionary work of Mark Weiser, its long name reflects the dual history of the new event.

The ACM International Symposium on Wearable Computing (ISWC) discusses novel results in all aspects of wearable computing, and has been colocated with UbiComp and Pervasive since 2013.

A complete list of UbiComp, Pervasive, and ISWC past conferences is provided below.
